Men’s Basketball Rules

TEAM ROSTERS:

Team rosters must be turned in and all fees paid before the first game of the schedule. Team rosters must be finalized no later than one (1) month after the start of the season and that date will be the last date to sign players.

 

FORFEIT:

Teams must have four (4) eligible players ready to play at game time. Game time for all games will be forfeit time.

 

FEE REFUND POLICY:

Team registration fees will be refunded in full provided request for refund is filed at least one week prior to the official closing date of registration. Request for refund filed in the last week of registration will result in forfeiture of 25% of team fee. Requests for refund filed after schedules are drawn or league season begins will result in 100% forfeiture of team fee.

 

RELEASING PLAYER:

When a player is released from a team, the team's coach or manager must notify the Saginaw Township Recreation Department as soon as possible.

 

POSSESSION:

First possession is determined by coin toss, subsequent possessions alternate.(No jump balls).

 

LENGTH OF GAME:

 a. A game shall consist of (2) - 20 minute halves.

b. One (1) minute intermission between quarters.

c. Three (3) minute half-time intermission.

STOPPING THE CLOCK:

a. Team Time-Outs: Thirty (30) seconds in duration. Teams will be allowed two (2) time-outs per half.

b.On the whistle during the last two (2) minutes of the second and fourth quarters.

c. Whenever an unusual delay, such as an injury occurs.

 

SUBSTITUTE ENTERING THE GAME:

Substitutes may enter the game when the ball is dead.

 

CONDUCT OF PLAYERS AND MANAGERS:

PROPER CONDUCT IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL! All players, coaches and managers are expected to conduct themselves in a reasonable and sportsmanlike manner at all times. If a manager or coach MAKES NO EFFORT to control a player who is conducting himself in an unsportsmanlike manner, the manager or coach will bear equal blame and responsibility and be subject to the same penalties.

Rough play, abusive language and all other acts of unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated under any circumstance. Disciplinary action in cases of misconduct will be handled by the Recreation Department.

Manager or Coach will have basic responsibility for the conduct and Control of all players on his team.

Player or players attempting to vocally intimidate game officials, scorekeepers, timekeepers or other league representatives through the use of profanity, obscenities or other objectionable language will result in ejection from the game and premises and a minimum of (2) additional games.

 

PERSONAL VALUABLES:

The Recreation Department can and will not be responsible for any valuables lost or stolen.

 

NUMBERED SHIRTS:

All participants should wear numbered shirts.
