Saginaw Township Police Department Investigation Division

Detective Unit

The Saginaw Township Police Department Detective Unit has the responsibility of investigating criminal cases that range from larcenies to homicide.

Detective Sergeant Doyle, and Detectives Brooks, McInerney, and Worden take cases that have been written by patrol officers and conduct the necessary follow up investigation. The purpose of the investigation is to gather facts and determine if the elements of a crime are present to successfully prosecute a suspect.

Detectives Brian Pitt and Robert Bean investigate all commercial crimes, including fraud, embezzlement, and check complaints.

Detective Scott Jackson is assigned to the Saginaw County Auto Theft Team (SCATT). He is teamed with an officer from the Saginaw Police Department and a detective from the Saginaw County Sheriff Department. Together they investigate all auto thefts in Saginaw County.

The Saginaw Township Police Department also has incorporated a CRIME INFORMATION HOT LINE, 791-7233, and a CRIME INFORMATION TIP LINE, 791-7226 into its arsenal for the fight against crime. The Hot Line will have updates almost daily on crimes or problems in your area. The Tip Line allows citizens the opportunity to report problems or crimes in your area. You may leave information anonymously, or you may leave your name if you wish to be contacted by an officer or detective.

Crime Prevention Unit

The current Crime Prevention Unit was established in 1987. The unit (C.P.U.) consists of a sergeant and four detectives that handle a vast array of duties. Detective/Sergeant Michael Berent supervises the unit and also handles the residential security programs, including Neighborhood Watch and Crime Free Multi Housing. Detective Don Morse investigates all narcotic and vice complaints. Detectives Michael Cohee and Tom Luth investigate property crimes, obtain and execute warrants, conduct covert surveillance of criminal suspects and in areas of increased criminal activity.

Detective Don Koski is our School Resource Officer. Detective Koski works with the high schools in Saginaw Township to help build a positive relationship between young adults and the police department. He lectures in law classes about search and seizure laws and investigates any crimes that occur at the schools.
